Retail centre deal finalised

JOBS are expected to be created at a revamped Yorkshire shopping centre.

Rotherham Council has finalised an agreement with Caddick Developments for the redevelopment of the Bellows Road Shopping Centre in Rawmarsh.

The existing 1960s supermarket will be demolished to make way for five new shops in an 8,500 sq ft parade.

Caddicks has already pre let space to Tesco, Heron Foods, Staniforth’s Bakers and Vantage Chemist. The centre is expected to be completed in autumn.

Coun Neil Hamilton, the chairman of the Bellows Road Project Group, said yesterday: “For many years the current centre has been a real eyesore, which has devalued the local area.

“The new agreement represents a vital step to realising our ambitions.
