Specialist metals producer names new chief executive

METALYSIS, the specialist metals producer, has appointed Dr Dion Vaughan as chief executive.

He succeeds Guppy Dhariwal who is retiring having joined the firm, based in Rotherham, in 2010. Dr Vaughan is a trained metallurgist and has worked across the metals, mining and investment sectors including Hatch Corporate Finance, Sheffield Forgemasters and JP Morgan.

Dr Vaughan said: “Our future emphasis will be on further developing our strength in science and technology, where the company has historically performed, and on partnering with leading metals companies who can help with engineering scale up and market adoption.”

Elsewhere, Harsco Metals South Yorkshire has appointed a new senior operations manager. Martin Gray joins with many years’ experience in operations management, including several years with Saint-Gobain, where he worked as both a design engineer and operations manager. Mr Gray will be working at Harsco’s principal SteelPhalt site in Sheffield Road, Rotherham, and also with its operations at the nearby Outokumpu and at Sheffield Forgemasters.

Meanwhile, AGS Risk Solutions has made a trio of appointments to support its growth in complex liability investigation, covert surveillance and strategic anti-fraud support. The Leeds-headquartered company, which provides a range of risk management services and resources, has brought in experienced investigators Paul Ewen, Shaun Painting and Chris Passmore.

Moorland Energy, the North of England oil and gas exploration and production company, said that Tom Pickering has joined the company as a senior consultant. His role will involve developing the firm’s key Ryedale gas project in North Yorkshire.

He is the founder of consultancy Pickering URC, as well as a former COO of shale gas operator Hutton Energy and an ex-MD of Geometric COFOR.
