The Terrace, Bradford: Meet the regulars who loved their 'gem' of a pub so much they bought it

Pub company Beerhouses has completed the leasehold sale of a West Yorkshire pub to two of its long-time customers.

The company sold the leasehold of The Terrace in Idle, Bradford, to Jessica Taylor and Stacey Pedley.

The modern pub, which occupies a period building on Albion Road, has been under the ownership of Beerhouses, an independent pub company based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, since 2017.

The new owners, Jessica Taylor and Stacey Pedley are both new entrants to the pub market and plan to re-open the business as The Symposium.

They said in a statement: “We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to now own this gem of a local landmark and we’re excited to bring back a name that the people of Idle hold dear.

"We’ve been regulars here for well over a decade. It was actually here where we met many years ago and became best friends.

“It’s a bit of a dream come true to have purchased the venue and we want to make sure it’s here to stay for years to come.

"We hope our customers enjoy it as much as we do and help us to make it a great success.

Alex Rex, senior business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “It’s a heart-warming story and I know that Jess and Stacey will give their all to make the pub as successful as possible.

"This sale is a common example of the sort of leasehold transaction currently taking place in the market, with lifestyle buyers purchasing sub £50,000 leases.”

Sarah Barnes, director of Beerhouses added: “We are delighted that Jess and Stacey are taking it over and wish them the best of luck.”
