Three Acres: Fire ravaged Huddersfield restaurant rises from ashes with AA five-star rating

The Three Acres restaurant in Huddersfield has been awarded an AA five-star rating, just a year after it reopened following a fire.

The restaurant underwent a 17-month refurbishment after it was badly damaged by the blaze on Boxing Day 2023.

A spokesman said: “The restaurant and 15-bedroom hotel, owned by the Truelove family since 1968, has received a Five Silver Star ‘restaurant with rooms’ rating, which recognises exceptional standards of hospitality, service, accommodation and overall guest experience.”

"It was awarded following an anonymous inspection and overnight stay by an AA inspector, whose online overview on the AA website notes the venue is ‘ideal for relaxed escapes in the Pennine countryside’ and its ‘15 bedrooms have been tastefully redesigned featuring stylish and characterful décor’.

“The restaurant has also been awarded an AA Rosette, recognising food that stands out locally and is prepared with care and skill using quality ingredients.”

Tom Truelove, owner at The Three Acres, said: “Receiving the AA five silver star rating and the AA rosette for our restaurant is an incredibly proud moment. We have always believed in creating an experience that combines exceptional food with genuine, Yorkshire hospitality and beautiful surroundings, and to see that now recognised at the highest level means a huge amount to us.

“After the challenges of the past two years, this recognition is a testament to the passion, resilience and dedication of our entire team, and is the perfect way to celebrate a successful first year back in business.”
