Watchdog should look at Tesco/Booker deal' - Morrisons boss
Supermarket giant Tesco's £3.9bn deal to buy food supplier Booker should be looked at by the competition watchdog, the chairman of Morrisons has claimed.
Andy Higginson, a former finance director at Tesco, said that the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will wish to scrutinise the deal.
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Mr Higginson said: “I think the CMA will want to look at this in a lot of detail to really understand how it is going to change the market and lead to [Tesco] controlling around 25 per cent of the supply of food into the market.”
