Weightmans reports record year of growth as it invests in Leeds

The law firm Weightmans, which has an office in Leeds, said it delivered record growth over the last financial year as it boosted its international profile.

In the 2025 to 2026 financial year Weightmans reported that its revenue increased by 12% to £162m and net profit rose by 17% to £17m.

A spokesman said that these results marked the firm’s fifth consecutive year of growth and reflected “disciplined progress against its strategy”.

In recognition of the firm-wide contribution to this performance, every employee will receive a bonus of £2,500, the spokesman added.

The statement said: “International revenue also grew strongly, increasing 16% year-on-year. During the year, the firm launched its international desks and developed a close working relationship with Irish law firm Whitney Moore to enhance its cross-border capability.

Weightmans also expanded its national footprint and service offering by opening an office in Nottingham.

The statement added: “This momentum has continued into the new financial year through the mergers with Elborne Mitchell and Myton Law, increasing the firm’s presence in London and Leeds; it has also strengthened its capability in Scotland with the addition of a specialist immigration team in Glasgow.”

The firm has continued to invest in technology partnering with Verisk to launch Fraud Rely, an advanced anti-fraud platform, and with Clio Operate to roll out a new case management system across the firm.

During the year, Weightmans welcomed 26 lateral partner hires, which, together with internal promotions, brings the partnership to 265, alongside a new intake of trainees and apprentices. It employs 129 staff in its Leeds office. A spokesman said there were no plans for further acquisitions.

Sarah Walton, Managing Partner at Weightmans, said: “This has been a landmark year for the firm.

"Delivering sustained growth in revenue, income and profit in a fast-changing market is a strong endorsement of our strategy and the strength of our client relationships.

“The strong results reflect both the resilience of our core business and the progress we are making in growing higher-value work in areas such as public sector, regulatory, employment and advisory. We are seeing momentum in the right parts of the market, supported by long-standing client relationships and a continued focus on delivering quality and value.

“What matters most is how we’ve achieved it – through a clear focus on clients, disciplined execution and continued investment in our people, our capability and our technology. I’m particularly pleased that every colleague will share that success with a £2,500 bonus.

“The legal sector is evolving quickly. Technology, new delivery models, private equity and changing client expectations are reshaping the market.

“Our priority is to stay ahead of that change – building a stronger, more connected business, grounded in our core legal expertise, and delivering consistently for our clients.”
