TWO Yorkshire businesswomen are helping local companies navigate the complexities of auto enrolment as many businesses face putting employees into a pension scheme for the first time.

Jan Smith and Eloise Flint’s Skipton based company, Auto Enrolment Yorkshire, offers businesses a complete auto-enrolment service and Ms Flint said: “Having helped many companies through auto-enrolment in my previous job, I saw how much companies valued having someone explain face to face in ordinary language what they needed to do and when.

“Lots of business owners are putting their employees into a pension scheme for the first time, and want a straightforward explanation of the choices available to them, help in setting up the pension scheme and communicating the changes to their employees.”

And Ms Smith said: “Battling through the bewildering amount of information available online can be overwhelming, our clients tell us they prefer dealing face to face with a real person who can simplify the whole process.”

By law, all employers must have a suitable pension scheme in place by their ‘staging date’, which is set by the Pensions Regulator and linked to employee numbers, and will be no later than 2018.

An employee’s age and earnings will determine whether their employer needs to auto-enrol them in the scheme.

The two women have both worked in financial services and have known each other since the 1980s.

“We’re excited to be supporting Yorkshire businesses, especially at a time when Yorkshire’s profile is increasing” says Ms Smith. “Traditional Yorkshire values form the backbone of our business activities, which our clients tell us they appreciate.”
