Leeds academic keeps job after lecture striptease

The university launched an investigation after it emerged that 51-year-old Dr Lamond had stripped down to his underpants while teaching.

They have now confirmed that the investigation has been completed, with the academic being let off with what appears to have been a rap on the knuckles.

Asked about the outcome of the inquiry, Leeds Met said it had “clarified its expectations in lecture delivery”.

A Leeds Met spokesman said yesterday: “An internal investigation has taken place.

“The university has clarified its expectations in lecture delivery and so the matter is now closed.”

Events management lecturer Dr Lamond is reported to have performed his striptease to try to give his lecture group an idea of how to pitch to clients.

Pictures subsequently found their way onto Twitter showing him sitting shirtless behind his desk.

One student tweeted: “I literally have no idea what is going on right now, why is my lecturer semi naked.”

Another tweet said: “Did not sign up for this at uni - my lecturer is mad.”

In a recent piece published on a careers website, Dr Lamond wrote: “What I am really enjoying is the combination of lecturing, particularly when I’m in-front of a cohort of 200 plus events students in one of the larger lecture theatres, and research. It’s that voracious curiosity and performer in me I guess.”

He also said: “Having a definite plan works for a lot of people and I’m not knocking it but, for me, creating a plan from the clay you’re given is much more exciting and, because of the challenge it presents, far more rewarding.”

Dr Lamond added: “In this world of events management I am busy creating my own space that crosses so many disciplinary areas it’s a thrill.”
