Mental health study boost

YORK University has launched a new research centre to help collaboration between academics investigating the “social, economic and cultural influences” on mental health and wellbeing.

The Centre for Mental Health Social Research aims to help people of all ages with severe mental health problems to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

Its research will focus on the “social environment” in which people live.

The university said mental health and wellbeing are among the most significant issues confronting society on a global scale with one in four people affected by a mental health problem.
