Confirmed coronavirus cases in Yorkshire rise by 323 as UK hospital deaths top 10,000

There are now 4,845 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Yorkshire, the latest figures from Public Health England (PHE) have revealed.

The figure, accurate as of 9am today, is up by 323 from Saturday's update.

Sheffield is the worst-hit local authority area, with 1,201 confirmed cases, followed by Leeds with 628 confirmed cases.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said it was a "sombre day" as the hospital death toll from coronovirus in the UK passed the 10,000 mark.

Yorkshire has seen a record daily death total today, with confirmed coronavirus fatalities rising by 60.

Bradford - 377

Calderdale - 140

Doncaster - 198

East Riding - 204

Hull (Kingston upon Hull) - 112

Kirklees - 318

Leeds - 628

North East Lincolnshire - 64

North Lincolnshire - 95

Rotherham - 338

Sheffield - 1,201

Wakefield - 300

York - 125
