The weekly Covid infection rate of every Yorkshire area as only Scarborough, Ryedale and Barnsley's rates fall

This is the weekly Covid-19 infection rate of every local authority area in Yorkshire.

York has the highest infection rate in Yorkshire at 670.4 cases per 100,00 people. Scarborough, Ryedale and Barnsley's infection rates are down on the previous week.

The latest figures, for the seven days to January 8, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two). The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people. Data for the most recent four days (January 9-12) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases. Of the 315 local areas in England, 225 (71 per cent) have seen a rise in case rates and 89 (28 per cent) have seen a fall and one is unchanged. Images are for illustrative purposes only.
