Total of 80 new Covid deaths recorded in Yorkshire hospitals

A total of 80 new Covid deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire hospitals, according to new statistics.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

A total of 36 new Covid deaths were recorded in Leeds hospitals - the highest daily increase recorded in statistics.

The total of 36 new deaths sadly eclipses any other daily update tracked since the start of recording deaths from the virus.

The deaths were recorded on the following days by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust:

Nov 12: 1

Nov 13: 7

Nov 14: 7

Nov 15: 8

Nov 16: 4

Nov 17: 2

Nov 18: 7

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, a further 44 deaths were recorded.

This takes the death toll in the county from the virus to 4,277.

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 3

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 4

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 3

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 5

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust: 6

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust: 36

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 3

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 7

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 3
