Murder-hunt police follow suspect’s steps

Detectives investigating the murders of a family of four have retraced the steps of a man wanted in connection with the deaths.

Northamptonshire Police officers followed the route believed to have been taken through Northampton by Anxiang Du, 52, who has been named as a suspect in the murders of university lecturer Jifeng Ding, his wife Helen and their two daughters a week ago.

CCTV images released by the force earlier this week showed businessman Du arriving from Birmingham New Street at platform four of Northampton railway station.

Officers then travelled to Greyfriars bus station where Du is believed to have waited in Bay 19, eventually getting on the Number 15 bus, which is also revealed by CCTV images.

The journey ended when officers travelled into Wootton Village, at the bus stop where Du is believed to have got off.

An identical car to the silver five-door Vauxhall Corsa missing from the family’s home – registration BG60 PMO – was also shown in images from the village.

The Ding family were found stabbed to death at their home last weekend.

Detective Superintendent Glyn Timmins told a news conference that Du was now known to have been in possession of a significant amount of cash at the time of the murders last Friday.
