5. Spectators
Spectators dotted the fields around the rural location of the site to watch the demolition despite dismal, drizzling conditions.
6. Explosives
DSM, who carried out the demolition, said they had to use high velocity explosives to bring the towers down.
7. Roads closed
Police closed roads and 40 security guards patrolled a 350m exclusion zone during the demolition.
8. History
The 2-Gigawatt coal fired power plant was built for and initially operated by the Central Electricity Generating Board and commenced generating electricity in 1967
