The Piece Hall and Wentworth Woodhouse to receive emergency cash from government's Culture Recovery Fund
A total of 56 historic attractions, charitable trusts or heritage sector businesses have received a share of the £1.5billion Culture Recovery Fund windfall to help them revive following extended lockdown closures.
The money will be spent on repair and maintenance work, keeping venues open and protecting staff jobs.

Hide AdOne of the biggest winners in Yorkshire is The Piece Hall in Halifax, which has been awarded £955,000 to support its outreach programme.
Historic England worked with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to choose the organisations that would receive assistance.
Other big names from the Yorkshire heritage sector to be included are Wentworth Woodhouse, Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Selby Abbey, Barnsley Museums, Ilkley Toy Museum, Castle Howard, Magna, Bramley Baths in Leeds, The Foundry in Sheffield, the Bedern Hall in York, Sheffield Cathedral, Leeds Library and Wensleydale Railway.
Historic England chief executive Duncan Wilson said: “It is heartening to see grants, both large and small, from the Culture Recovery Fund helping heritage sites and organisations across the country which have been hit hard by the effects of Covid-19.
