A rare collection of Burberry coats is up for auction at Tennant Auctioneers in Leyburn next month as the auction house and events centre reopens with coronavirus measures in place.

The vendor, from Yorkshire, worked as a sample maker for Burberry for more than two decades and the coats were made during the 1980s and 1990s, probably at Burberry’s factories at Castleford and Cross Mills. The collection includes a grey wool poncho, which was produced as a sample but never produced for retail. Many of the coats were purchased in factory sample sales and sizes are varied but most are a size 12-14. Each has an estimate of £100-£200.
