These fabulous knitted and felted tea cosies are made by Bertha Grace Cartledge of Bingley and, thanks to a non-profit making partnership with an independent shop, they have raised over £2,000 for charity.

They are sold through Hawksby’s in Haworth, which is devoted to work by British makers, and has become a destination outlet for design lovers. The beautifully crafted cosies, which come with a teapot, cost between £40 and £60.

Bertha, originally from the Netherlands, is a keen crafter whose fundraising helps support orphans in Uganda, along with other good causes. She says: “I enjoy making the felted flowers from recycled woollen garments. Each flower is quite unique and it is very exciting to try and match the colours. Claire at Hawksby’s stocks the tea cosies without any charge or commission, so all the money raised goes to charity. It is a lovely act of generosity by the owner of one of the most beautiful shops in the area.”
