You should not be charged excessive amounts for what should generally be very straightforward work.

Dominic adds that it should be very rare for a simple will to cost more than £175. For a more comprehensive service including wills, trust advice and Lasting Powers of Attorney a couple would normally expect to pay no more than £1,000, but often much less.

However, an experienced and qualified solicitor should be able to assist you, give you peace of mind and not charge you the earth for doing so. It is also vital that you understand what you have put in place. If an adviser fails to explain everything that you are doing, then they are failing to do their job.
