All the Yorkshire chefs and restaurants to receive Michelin stars for the Michelin Guide 2021

Three new Yorkshire restaurants have received Michelin stars, it has been announced.

While the UK's restaurant and fine dining scene has suffered greatly in the past year, some of Yorkshire's finest chefs have been among many to be served up some brilliant news.

Two new restaurants were announced to have received stars for the Michelin Guide 2021 which was announced this evening (Monday).

Among those successful, The Black Swan at Oldstead, North York Moors, was named among the first recipients of the Green Star for sustainability.

Several other restaurants in the region are among Michelin's recommendations.

Here are the new entries to the 2021 guide below.

Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, Ripon

Originally from Yorkshire, chef Shaun Rankin trained with the best at The Mayfair Hotel in London and now is based at Ormer, London. His fine dining restaurant based in an old music room at five-star luxury hotel and wellness retreat Grantley Hall, near Ripon, is a new addition to 2021's Michelin Guide with its tasting menu inspired by his childhood memories and superb knowledge of the surrounding area. Chef Rankin has made numerous TV appearances, most notably on Masterchef UK in 2017, when Ormer Mayfair was featured as a location for the programme.

Roots, York

A former arts and crafts pub and sister restaurant to The Black Swan, Roots based in York city centre is the latest addition to the Michelin Guide this year. Ingredients are sourced from chef and owner Tommy Banks' parents' farm at Oldstead and the evolving menu includes smoked eel with whey and chive, and scallop with sour honey and pickled mussel. Following the announcement, Roots tweeted they were "absolutely thrilled and honoured" with the accolade.

The restaurant wrote: "Thank you to all our wonderful suppliers for your continued support and, of course, all our wonderful customers - for not only dining with us, but for sharing this journey too. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the restaurant, and celebrate together soon."
