Bar Seven93, Beverley: A quaintly olde-worlde pub with meet the brewer nights

Interesting to report, then, that a new type of booze-based venture has opened up. Bar Seven93 is a small, two-room attic space above a related bottle shop that serves eight handpulls as well as the best of the stock from the shelves a floor below.

It’s the brainchild of Tony Wallis (and his wife Julie) who opened the bar in October last year after working as a business intelligence civil servant for the Department of International Trade. How much the international trade role influences the stock policy of both shop and bar is a moot point, but there certainly seems to be plenty of global labels featuring on the drink menu.

Despite no previous experience in hospitality, Tony has successfully created a cosy, comfortable and quaintly olde-worlde space from the aged, warped walls. There are meet the brewer nights and he’s even hosted a whole evening dedicated to a single Scandinavian spirit producer, which drew people from as far afield as Lancashire. Sadly, there is currently no food offering except for crisps, which Tony is determined to source so they’re just as obscure as some of the booze.

Despite being just a few yards from Beverley’s main drag – right across the road from the front door of County Hall, which is about as central as you can get - the bar is easily missed So if you find yourself in the town and fancy an unusual drink in an intriguing location, arm yourself in advance with Bar Seven93’s location and be ready to try something new.
