5. The Judge's Lodging, Lendal
This Grade I listed townhouse was used by judges when they attended Assize Courts in York. It was built in 1711 and is now a hotel as well as a bar

6. Lamb & Lion Inn, High Petergate
This pub was destroyed by fire in the 17th century and subsequently rebuilt. It also now offers overnight stays as well as food and drinks.

7. The Hole in The Wall, High Petergate
The history of this pub is easy to find - it's on display inside. The building is on the site of an old prison - and there is still a window at the pub through which prisoners would be fed.

8. Ye Olde Starre Inne, Stonegate
The oldest continuously operating pub in the city, with a famous sign which has spanned the road since 1733, Ye Olde Starre Inn needs no introduction, although it is easy to walk right past!
