But 69-year-old Kashmiri born entrepreneur Mohammed, a self-confessed adopted Yorkshireman, really isn't 'cod-ing' when he says he'll celebrate instead with the region's traditional delicacy.

"I'll be having fish and chips. I like it. Because you're into the spice food all the time you want to eat something different," he laughed.

"I was born in Kashmir and came here when I was 13.

"But now I dream in English. When you're dreaming in English. You are British."

He says having a dedicated family run business, with its high standards and traditional home cooking recipes, bringing the real taste of Kashmiri to Yorkshire, is the secret of its success.

The restaurant chain was founded in Shipley in 1977 but now also has outlets in Leeds city centre, Garforth, Chapel Allerton, Midpoint, Skipton, Wakefield, Tadcaster and Doncaster.

It has a purpose-built conference and banqueting centre, The Midpoint Suite, Pudsey, which seats up to 450, and a UK wide outdoor catering unit.

All Aagrah branches have their own online takeaway website, making it easier to place an order, with delivery available and special offers on collected orders.

Aagrah also has a share of the home dining market with a range of authentic Tarka cooking sauces from Aagrah Foods, available in stores including Asda, and Morrisons.

It serves up cocktails, international gins and international beers, craft and IPAs. It recently introduce new house beer Halka, a collaboration with Leeds based Kirkstall Brewery.

With a hand-picked award winning team of chefs, balancing time-honoured dishes with culinary innovation, it offers restaurant dining, caters for private events and home takeaways,

Proud Managing Director Mohammed, who started the business with his brother and present company chairman Mohammed Sabir, says the business has come a long way from those early days - and it's just the start of the journey, with more outlets, food and drink products to follow.
