The 12 Yorkshire pubs nominated for the National Pub & Bar Awards 2026

Nominations have been announced for the best pubs and bars across all four Yorkshire counties.

The National Pub & Bar Awards is a celebration of the pub industry, and 12 pubs across the Yorkshire region have been selected for a coveted County Winner award.

Pubs and bars are judged not only on the drinks they serve, but also on their digital presence and design.

Kelham Island Tavern, a real ale pub in Sheffield and 15th Century pub The Plough at Wombleton in North Yorkshire were among those that made the shortlist for this year's National Pub & Bar Awards.

Richard Johns, from The Plough, told The Yorkshire Post: “It's really gratifying to be recognised and rewarded. It's nice to get that from the industry.

“It helps to put The Plough on the map.”

Mr Johns owns and operates the pub with his partner Lindsey. He is also the sole chef, which he says is a “rarity these days”.

This year is his 22nd in the pub and bar industry, and reacting to the nomination, he said: “I hope this shows we're doing something right still!”

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which hosts the annual awards, said: “Our bigger and better format that debuted in 2025 was such a success, we can’t wait to roll it out again this year.”

The grand final celebration will take place on June 10, where winners will be announced. This is the 10-year anniversary of the National Pub & Bar Awards.

Over 250 highly commended pubs and bars are invited to the National Pub & Bar Awards final to find out which 94 sites will make up this year's county winners.

County and regional winners and the overall National Pub & Bar of the Year will be announced live at the event, and the highly commended nominees for each area will collect certificates.

Mr O’Hana said: “The fact that the celebrations last from the long Easter weekend, when we celebrate this year’s County Nominees, right up until the awards night at the beginning of summer is no less than this wonderful industry deserves.

“We just want to do what we can to spread the word about these brilliant businesses.”
