It comes after the famous Magpie Cafe was named as the best in the country by National Geographic.
Many people agreed with the choice, saying that the Magpie Cafe deserves the win, but other users on social media told us that the "locals don't go there".
We asked people on Facebook, where is the best place to get fish and chips in Whitby - and this is what they said...
5. The Quayside
The Quayside was another chippy that got lots of recommendations from people such as Tony Ellis, Sarah Lowe and Sue Shephard. It is located at 7 Pier Road.
6. The Fisherman's Wife
The Fisherman's Wife was suggested by several people including Paul Drinkwater, Julie Collier and Louise Walsh. Linda Dye said: "We always go to The Fisherman’s Wife when visiting Whitby never been disappointed" while Katy Griffiths added, "The Fishermans Wife. Best food. Best staff. And BEST view!!"
7. Angel Fisheries
Hera Giannakopoulos and Margaret Hibbitt recommended Angel Fisheries for its "lovely" food. It is located on Baxtergate.
