As more and more buildings with important pasts are confined to the annals of history, it’s a good time to reflect on some of the ones that are standing tall, wedged in the memory, still within our eyelines, and continue to embolden Leeds’ place on the map.
So we picked out a few of our favourites on Historic England’s register of protected sites to highlight:
9. Leeds City Museum - Grade II*
The city's one and only mid-Victorian museum of Leeds' social history sits decadently in Millennium Square, reopening to the public in 2008. | Jonathan Gawthorpe
10. Leeds and Holbeck Building Society - Grade II
The former bank was conceptualised as a centrepiece for the Headrow by architect Sir Reginald Blomfield in the 1920s. | Jonathan Gawthorpe
