Phil Cass was managing The Beautiful South when he upsized into this beautiful Edwardian property.

“That was 18 years ago and I was working from home so that gave me plenty of opportunity to really think about how I wanted to decorate the house. The idea was to modernise it to our taste while keeping all the original features.”

He tackled the project one room at a time and got a well-earned pat on the back from fellow contestants in a TV show. “I took part in Come Dine With Me, which was filmed here. I came last for my food but they loved the house,” he says.

The detached property is arranged over three floors and is set within impressive private grounds with views towards Almscliff Crag.

Inside, there is an entrance hallway, leading to two well proportioned reception rooms. The large breakfast kitchen has a range cooker, multi-fuel stove and French doors leading out to the garden. To the first floor, there is a master bedroom with dressing room and en-suite, two further double bedrooms and a house bathroom. On the second floor, there is an impressive double-height games room and two double bedrooms.

A basement provides storage and provides scope for further development into a useable room, subject to building regulation and planning permission.

Outside, the property is accessed via a gravelled driveway providing parking for several vehicles. The gardens have lawns, mature trees, shrubbery and patios. A summerhouse fashioned from an old stable provides potential for a workshop or home office and additional accommodation.

Fairmead is located in the heart of Pool-in-Wharfedale with easy access to the post office, loal pubs, church, and other village amenities.

Otley, Ilkley, Guiseley and Leeds Bradford Airport are a short drive away and there is also a regular bus service to nearby Weeton railway station. Leeds and Harrogate are within easy reach and the property is ideally located for access to the A1/M1.

Phil and his family are downsizing to a smaller property in nearby Otley. “We’ve loved the house but it is now too big for our needs, which is why we are downsizing,” he says.
