One of the most exquisite Georgian homes close to the Yorkshire coast is for sale with mod cons

Selling their much-loved home in Scarborough’s historic Old Town was a wrench for Dr Douglas Moederle-Lumb and his wife Dagmar but the property lacked a garden for their young son and so the house hunting began.

It ended in 2006 with them buying The Manor House in the beautiful conservation village of Hutton Buscel.

“We didn’t need a house this big but we fell in love with the property and the village,” says Dr Moederle-Lumb.

They have never regretted buying the gorgeous Georgian home and becoming part of the friendly village community and, along with a large garden, their son also got to enjoy the property’s swimming pool and tennis court.

“I used to work away quite a bit and when I drove home and reached the village and drove up to our home, I got a feeling of calm. The house puts its arms around you,” says Dr Moederle-Lumb.

During their tenure, the couple, who have a passion for interior design, have spared no expense on a major renovation and refurbishment of the property, which now boasts the latest technology.

They are selling their much-loved home to downsize now that they are retired, though it is a huge wrench, and says Dagmar: “We will miss the house and the village terribly. It’s been such a fantastic home in a fantastic village.”
