Mr Shaw, 88, says: “I’ve lived in this house for most of my life. I first moved here as a young boy with my parents who rented the house and I later bought it in 1971.

"My family has had so many happy memories here, from farming the land to creating colourful garden displays.”

Mr Shaw had plans drawn up in 2005 to develop the adjoining mistal into a single storey dwelling and believes his vision for the home could be brought to life by the next owners.

He adds: “I’m confident that the plans would have been approved but they were withdrawn due to change of personal circumstances at the time.

“Over the years there have been several changes to the house. There was a stone meat cellar at the back which was entered via the kitchen. This is now a small, enclosed bar.
