Bright & Sons has been part of the HL Brown family since 1957. The firm was established exactly 100 years earlier by brothers Frederick and Herbert Bright, jewellers from Sheffield who relocated in order to recuperate from illness.

Serviced and refinished at Bright & Sons was this £3,950 Breitling bi-metal automatic watch

It has stores in Scarborough, Sheffield, Doncaster, York and Lincoln.

Many of the jewellery items are exclusive to H L Brown and are consequently unavailable anywhere else in Scarborough and the surrounding district – which is why “Go to Bright’s” has been the instruction to discerning jewellery buyers for many generations.

The refurbished showroom is the perfect place to relax and select an engagement or wedding ring, with a superb range to choose from and helpful staff to assist.

Manager Mark Nettleton and his team are keen to source or design just the right piece of jewellery for the customer if there is nothing to suit in-store.

The antique jewellery window at Bright & Sons

Especially popular at the moment are the Harris and Leon solitaire engagement rings (Harris and Leon being the ‘H’ and ‘L’ in H L Brown): Harris being the six-claw design and Leon having four claws.

A beautiful range of eternity rings is also stocked, while the wider jewellery range includes both contemporary and traditional designs to suit all tastes and preferences.

Silver products comprise jewellery (including the Welsh Clogau range), giftware, men’s and women’s accessories.

The antique jewellery window is always worth a look for anyone seeking out a unique piece, with all items having been thoroughly restored as close as possible their former glory by Bright & Sons’ own working jeweller, who has more than 30 years’ experience.
