With travel abroad uncertain at the moment, many people will be looking to 'staycation' and have a holiday within the UK once national lockdown restrictions are lifted. At the moment, people are being urged to stay at home and to stay as local as possible, but for those that do want to plan ahead, or do some virtual holiday window shopping, here are some great, quirkey places to go for a staycation:
5. Houseboat Hotels, Sheffield
If you've always envied the the houseboat life, this accommodation may be the perfect way to give the experience a try. The Houseboat hotels in Victoria Quays in Sheffield are described as "floating apartments". Each boat has a double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen with gas hob and a small living room with doors that open onto the bow of the boat, so you can watch the world go by.
6. The Boathouse, Whitby
The Boathouse is a converted pump house with stunning views over the Whitby harbour. It is in the middle of the harbour, linked back to the mainland with a narrow bridge, making it the ideal place to getaway. At high tide guests are completely surrounded by water and at low tide they are on the beach, which gives this property a magical feel to it.
7. Skipwith Station, North Duffield
Spend your holiday inside a train carriage on the old Derwent Valley Light Railway in North Duffield. Chose a self-catering accommodation in one of the three disused carriages.
