As lockdown rules were lifted further across England over the weekend, allowing pubs, restaurants and hotels to reopen, the prospect of a summer holiday is now looking more promising.

While travelling abroad is allowed again, as advice on foreign travel was updated and quarantine restrictions lifted in more than 50 countries, many Brits may opt to holiday a little closer to home this year.

As the tourism industry starts to reopen again, there are many beautiful spots across the country that can now be enjoyed for a summer staycation - including here in Yorkshire.

If you are planning to ditch a holiday abroad in favour of a summer break closer to home, here are seven campsites and caravan parks across the county that are now welcoming visitors.

Catgill Farm, Bolton Abbey

Visitors can enjoy both camping and glamping at this picturesque spot at Bolton Abbey, with timber pods and bell tents available for a more comfortable stay.

The site is now taking bookings from 4 July onwards, and a number of new coronavirus safety measures have been introduced to protect both staff and visitors, including thorough and regular cleaning of facilities and hand sanitiser stations.

Wyse House Campsite, Malton

This family-friendly campsite on the outskirts of the market town of Malton is now open to visitors.

Situated on a family farm in the heart of North Yorkshire, the site boasts just 23 pitches which are spread across two acres of land, with glorious views of the Yorkshire Wolds.

York Naburn Lock Caravan Park, York

This caravan and camping park sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the River Ouse near York, and is open to visitors from 5 July onwards.

The site is ideal for family caravan holidays, as well as romantic couple breaks, with a secluded adults only area with grass, hardstanding or fully serviced touring pitches available.

Studfold Camping and Caravan Park, Nidderdale

Offering a choice of caravan, camping or glamping pitches, this beautiful campsite and touring park in Nidderdale is surrounded by wonderful rural views of the Yorkshire Dales.

All self-contained units, including static and touring caravans, and motorhomes, will be open from 4 July, while the full camping, glamping and caravan park will reopen to all visitors from 10 July.

Scarborough Camping and Caravanning Club, Scarborough

Ideal if you want to escape for a weekend by the sea, this site is conveniently based for exploring the Yorkshire coast and moors, and sits just a stone’s throw away from the seaside town of Scarborough.

Constable Burton Hall Caravan Park, Leyburn

Reopening to visitors from 4 July, this caravan park sits within convenient walking distance of Constable Burton Hall, and is wonderfully secluded to provide a peaceful haven.

Located on a level field, the 10 acre site allows for 80 seasonal and 40 touring pitches, with special care taken to avoid overcrowding.

Broadings Farm Caravan Site, Whitby

Visitors are welcome to stay as of 4 July at this working sheep farm on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors, just one mile away from the centre of Whitby.

The site is split between several fields, with 70 places for caravans, and two holiday cottages, accommodating four and eight people respectively.
