Abandoned dog needed treatment

AN abandoned dog needed veterinary treatment after being found tied to a tree in Hull.

Grace, as she has been named by wardens, was “extremely hungry and thirsty” when she was found on a very short tether near James Reckitt playing fields on Thursday, May 16.

“This is one of the worst cases we have had to deal with,” said Helen Foulston, animal warden supervisor at Hull Council.

“Unfortunately, more and more often the dog warden team is having to deal not just with stray dogs, but abandoned dogs too.

“We would urge anyone that perhaps recognises the dog or has any information about her to contact us as soon as possible.

“We understand that in these times of austerity, people could struggle to keep their pets and with Grace being the size she is we suspect this might be the case, but this treatment is certainly not the way to go about it.”

She added: “When people are considering taking on a dog they should ensure that they can afford the dog financially and emotionally to ensure that they are providing a loving home for the dog’s lifetime.”

Grace is still being treated but a new home has been found for her.
