Amorous couple hurt after falling over wall

A couple had to be rescued by firefighters after they fell down a steep embankment when they toppled over a dry stone wall they were leaning on while getting “a little amorous” in the Yorkshire Dales.

The couple, who are in their 30s, were injured in the fall, and the man had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering suspected abdominal and leg injuries.

His partner, who also needed treatment for injuries to her pelvis after the fall, had leant back against the dry stone wall but then lost her balance before toppling over.

A spokeswoman for the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service revealed the couple were “getting a little amorous” when the accident happened near Hawes, in Wensleydale.

The man had attempted to grab his partner, but her momentum had caused him to also lose
balance and fall over the
wall.

The couple then fell down a steep embankment on Brunt Acres Road.

The North Yorkshire brigade spokeswoman said an appliance from Hawes was called to the scene at about 12.20pm on Saturday after being alerted by ambulance crews.
