Appeal after M62 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses as enquiries continue into a crash involving two heavy goods vehicles which closed the M62.

One of the drivers suffered serious head injuries after the two red Volvo HGV cab units, travelling in the same direction, collided and crossed the central reservation onto the eastbound carriageway

between J23 Outlane and J22 Saddleworth westbound on Wednesday afternoon.

His condition was described today (Thurs) as “critical but stable.” The other driver suffered minor injuries.

The vehicles were travelling on trade plates to have tipper bodies fitted.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the lorries prior to the collision or who saw the crash itself.
