Appeal after school girls approached in Knaresborough by suspicious motorist

Police are appealing for witnesses to a suspicious incident in Knaresborough, in which two girls were approached by a female motorist.

At around 12.30pm on Saturday July 4, two 12-year-old girls, who were pushing a young child in a pushchair, were approached as they walked on The Spinney, Knaresborough, by a woman driving a small blue car.

The woman gestured to the girls, then stopped the car, got out and told them to get into the car. The girls ran off and sought help nearby.

The woman is described as white, in her mid 60s, around 5ft 3ins tall, of slightly chubby build with grey, shoulder-length hair that was brushed back. The blue car is described as being similar in size to a Vauxhall Corsa and having three doors.

Police are conducting enquiries in the area to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
