Armed robbers captured on mobile phones

Diamond and gold counters at Gary French Jewellers, in Baxter Gate, were raided by three men in balaclavas at around 9.35am.

After leaving the shop they got into a silver Mercedes, turned left into oncoming traffic on the Church Way dual carriageway and drove to Conyers Road, Bentley, where the car was set on fire.

A police spokesman said: “Police have recovered a machete that is believed to have been used in connection with the robbery, and it is currently being examined.”

They added that South Yorkshire Police wants “to be informed of any footage of the Mercedes members of the public may hold.”
