Augusta or Ripon? Yorkshire’s mini-Masters

Anyone who follows golf will notice a well-known course landmark at one of Yorkshire’s attractions.

The Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park has a new stone bridge which golfing enthusiasts will note is a copy of one of the landmark bridges a the Augusta National Golf Club in the United States.

“Any golfing enthusiasts visiting the gardens this Autumn will also appreciate the newly installed stone bridge which is a copy of one of the well-known landmark bridges at the Augusta National Golf Club in the USA,” a spokesman for the attraction said yesterday.

There will be plenty of Autumn colour at the 20-acre Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park at Grewelthorpe near Ripon which is opening for a week from today until November 1.

Woodland walks along the valley enable visitors to enjoy views of lakes and other water features as well as the 60-strong collection of stunning sculptures which are the work of widely-acclaimed artists from several different countries.

The Augusta National Golf Club, is located in Augusta, Georgia and is one of the most famous golf clubs in the world.

The course opened in January 1933 and since 1934, it has played host to the annual Masters Tournament, one of the four major championships in professional golf. Some of the world’s most famous players have graced the course in a bid to win the famous tournament.

It boasts an extensive collection of plants and this time of year is a chance to see the Himalayan garden in its all its Autumn glory.

At the Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park, gardens are open 10am-4pm and entrance is under £5 and children under 12 are free.
