Bandstand marks 110th birthday
Once bandstands were a familiar site in parks up and down the land but now only about 3,000 bandstands remain in the country but today the building in Ripon remains a major feature of the small park and a day of celebration is planned to mark the milestone.
A spokeswoman for Harrogate Borough Council said: “Ripon’s bandstand is a Grade II listed building and is much admired by tourists, local residents and visiting horticultural judges. It is a traditional bandstand with a characteristic art nouveau balustrade incorporating daisy motif, and panels with bluebirds and butterflies.”
