Barnsley housing development to create 85 new jobs

Eighty five jobs are to be created with the delivery of 49 new homes in Barnsley.

Avant Homes Yorkshire has completed the purchase of 4.46-acre site on Lidget Lane in Pilley, where it will deliver a £14m development.

The housebuilder was granted planning permission for the development in March by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. In total, the build is expected to take around 18 months and will create more than 85 jobs across construction and sales.

Named St Paul’s Bank, the development will offer homebuyers a collection of highly desirable two, three, four and five- bedroom homes across nine of Avant’s signature housetypes, just five miles from Barnsley town centre.

Avant Homes Yorkshire managing director, Chris Coley, said: “We’re very pleased to have completed the purchase of the land at St Paul’s Bank after planning was granted for the site earlier this year.

“The development will offer a wide range of homes and, combined with its location close to the village of Pilley, with fantastic commuter links to Barnsley, Leeds, Sheffield and Wakefield, it makes it a highly attractive location for a variety of buyers.

“Since sales and construction resumed across all our developments in June we’ve seen a significant surge in enquiries from prospective buyers. This has also been buoyed by the increase in the stamp duty threshold making it a great time to buy a new home. We expect St. Paul’s Bank to be hugely popular and look forward to getting works underway.”

Based in Wakefield, Avant Homes Yorkshire is part of the Avant Homes group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK. The group currently has 56 developments across its five operating regions, 12 of which are in Yorkshire, stretching from Knaresborough in North Yorkshire to Waverley in Sheffield.
