The 48th annual Great Knaresborough Bed Race on Saturday saw 91 teams compete to secure the fastest time around the 2.4-mile course, which includes having to swim across the River Nidd.

The Harrogate Harriers triumphed in a time of 13 min 10 sec with last year’s winners, the Ripon Runners, in second place after completing the course in 13 min 59. While sub-12-minute times have been recorded, these were during the two years when the river crossing had to be abandoned because of the high levels of the Nidd. Organisers the Knaresborough Lions hope to raise more than £100,000 from the weekend’s race for local causes and charities. picture: Marcus Corazzi.
