Boys charged with war memorial outrage

POLICE have charged two teenage boys with outraging public decency after they allegedly urinated on a war memorial in a West Yorkshire town. The youths, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on the afternoon of Thursday January 7 in Cleckheaton town centre.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at about 1.25pm.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the pair were due to appear at Dewsbury Youth Court on Wednesday.

Earlier this month a 49-year-old Leeds man admitted outraging public decency but denied urinating on a war memorial in Headingley, Leeds. He will face magistrates again in April.

In November a student at Sheffield Hallam University was photographed urinating on a war memorial after a drunken pub crawl in Sheffield.
