Bumper bank holiday of shows starts with Malham, Bilsdale and Wensleydale on Saturday

Malham Show returns this Saturday as part of bumper bank holiday of agricultural shows.

The long bank holiday weekend brings a raft of show dates, making it one of the busiest periods in the show season calendar.

Held annually in the heart of beautiful Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales on August Bank Holiday Saturday (August 25), Malham Show takes place under the shadow of Malham Cove.

Events and attractions take place on the showfield throughout the day, with some judging and horse events starting at 9am, before main ring events begin at 12noon.

Among the attractions is showjumping, Punch & Judy, vintage agricultural vehicles, working hunter classes, a farmers' market, children's sports and dry stone walling. A senior and junior fell race starts at 3pm.

Also on Saturday, 108th Bilsdale Show takes place at Thornhill Farm in Chop Gate. Among the attractions will be a sheep shearing demonstration, traditional swingboats, performances by the Bilsdale Silver Band, pantomime horse racing and a trials bike display.

Meanwhile, Wensleydale Show also returns on Saturday to the Richmond Road showfield in Leyburn, featuring main arena entertainment by The West Lancs Dog Display Team and Black Watch - London Pipes & Drums. The annual occasion also has a full range of livestock classes, displays of vintage cars, tractors and steam machines, and much more.

On Monday, the season continues with Burniston & District Show opposite Flatts Farm off the A165, Farndale Show at Church Houses and Reeth & District Show at Fremington.

And on Tuesday, Kilnsey Show & Sports returns in Upper Wharfedale.
