Cameras roll in Yorkshire for BBC’s Jane Austen ‘sequel’


The corporation will screen the mini-series Death Comes To Pemberley, which will star Matthew Rhys in the role of Fitzwilliam Darcy.
The adaptation, based on the novel by P D James which continues on from Pride and Prejudice, focuses on three of Austen’s biggest characters – Mr Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet and George Wickham, and will include South Riding star Anna Maxwell Martin and Birdsong actor Matthew Goode.

Hide AdThe story is a murder mystery sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, with the scene set six years into the marriage of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy.
The film crews were in York yesterday and other locations in the region including Castle Howard, Harewood House and Chatsworth House have already been used for shoots for the period drama.
Austen’s novel was first published in 1813, and a famous BBC adaption screened in 1995 starred Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.
