Care home’s standards must improve

The owner of a Dewsbury care home has been ordered to make immediate improvements.

Health and social care watchdog the Care Quality Commission has told Northfields Care Homes Limited to improve standards of care immediately at Oxford Grange Care Home, Oxford Road, which looks after people with dementia.

The warning follows a visit in June to check that the firm had made improvements ordered following an earlier inspection.

Inspectors found the company was failing to meet national standards in care and welfare, the safety and suitability of premises and cleanliness and infection control.

Care home manager Rachel Bedford said: “We have had an infection control audit since the CQC inspection in June and our infection control team have no concerns.

“Two of the non compliance areas were around maintenance issues which have also been dealt with.”
