An exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the First Direct Arena is set to give Leeds fundraisers a celebrity experience.

The arena is the latest Leeds landmark to be included on the Maggie’s charity’s Culture Crawl night-time 10km city walk on Friday September 30.

Leeds’ first Culture Crawl will give people the chance to follow in the footsteps of Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Pharrell on a backstage tour of the 13,500-capacity venue.

It will also see sponsored participants get special access to the likes of the Parkinson Building at the University of Leeds, Leeds Town Hall, The Tetley and Holy Trinity Church.

It comes as the Yorkshire Evening Post’s ongoing A Million for Maggie’s campaign works with the charity to help raise a seven-figure sum to make dreams of a new cancer support centre at Leeds St James’s Hospital a reality.

Tracy Garrad, chief executive of First Direct which has made Maggie’s as its national charity partner, said: “The First Direct Arena is a natural fit for an event which showcases the best cultural hotspots in Leeds and we’re thrilled to be hosting Maggie’s supporters on the night.”

First Direct will also enter a team of walkers in the Culture Crawl later this year.
