China shop thief grabs £1,500 vases

VASES worth almost £1,500 were stolen from Peter Jones China in Market Street, Barnsley, on Sunday morning.

The thief is believed to have gained access to the shop by forcing open a back window. He stole three vases before smashing a front glass door to escape. Items stolen include a Moorcroft "Ophelia's Flower" vase worth 590, a Moorcroft "Entwined" vase worth 373 and a

Moorcroft "Grapes and Flowers" vase which has been valued at 590.

PC Jonathan Cowling said: "The stolen items are very identifiable and I would urge anyone who may have been offered the sale of them to contact police immediately."

The thief is described as male, and slim. He was wearing a black hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.
