City in the frame at film night

rare and home-made film footage of Bradford in the 1960s is to be screened at the city’s cathedral next month.

The Yorkshire Film Archive – Bradford on Film event is part of the 19th Bradford International Film Festival and will be the third screening in the cathedral’s Film Friday series.

The event, on April 19 at 7pm, will include a discussion and the chance to share memories.

A fourth Film Friday event has also been scheduled, with funds going to an appeal launched this year to raise £250,000 to restore the cathedral’s organ in time for its centenary celebrations in 2019.

The 1922 silent film Oliver Twist, with music accompaniment by the Cathedral’s assistant director of music, Jonathan Eyre, will be shown on April 26 at 7pm. Tickets to both events are available from the cathedral office or on the door.
