City retains curry crown

BRADFORD has clinched the Curry Capital of Britain award for a record fourth time in a row.

Judges handed Bradford the crown, with Brighton runners-up and Birmingham third.

The city was praised for understanding the underlying message of the event which was to “promote cohesion where there was division”, said organiser Peter Grove.

“They managed to portray the local pride they have in all things Bradford.”

He said Bradford had used curry as a “bonding agent to bring different aspects of society together.”

Aakash, Kipling’s, Shimla Spice and Zaara’s were the four restaurants representing Bradford.

Trip Advisor ratings formed part of the judging process.
