City voters reject coalition parties

Labour candidate Terry Fox has won a by-election in Sheffield's Manor Castle ward with 75 per cent of the vote – and a 17.5 per cent swing from the Liberal Democrats to Labour.

The by-election followed the death of the former Labour leader, Jan Wilson.

Mr Fox polled 2,092 votes, while the Lib Dems’ Robbie Cowbury got just 303 votes.

The Green Party’s Graham Stephen Wroe was third with 224 votes. Conservative Christina Stark received 142.
