Council guiding hand for travellers

A website has gone online to help keep Bradford residents on the move by informing them of traffic hold-ups.

Bradford Council’s “Voyager” site lists disruptions on roads and railways in the district.

The information – on the www.bradford.gov.uk site – can be found by clicking on the “travel info” icon.

The content covers roadworks, accidents, events, public transport departures, congestion, travel times and road closures.

Council officials claim the website will soon be able to provide information about spaces in car parks and journey times on key local routes.

Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq, Bradford Council’s executive member for the environment, said: “This site could prove invaluable for people on the move throughout the district.

“They can see what time the next bus or train is due, where to avoid along their route if they are driving due to accidents or events and they can also report traffic light faults and hold ups,” added Coun Khaliq.

“This helps minimise congestion, disruption and improves the efficiency of the transport network.”
